Hi
probably not exactly what you are after but I have read about a golden hamper: fill with golden syrup, golden granulated sugar, gold tea, golden crunch biscuits etc etc - you get the idea - also things in gold packaging.0 -
thanks shimmi. i was thinking of more ideas for the actual evening but all ideas are welcomed and much appreciated!0

How about asking friends and relatives if they have any photos and making up a photoalbum of their lives ...you know a little like "this is your life"...or could be "this is your lives".
Have a look for books in the library/local museum for old photos of places that were important in their lives. Some towns have historical societies too which may be able to help you. I.e. the church they were married, their first date, where you used to go as children, their first home etc. etc. You can find old photos or/and take new photos.
It may be a bit of hard work but that will be even more appreciated.
How about having a special signing book for the evening (like you have at weddings) so everyone can write their own messages in. (I've seen some of these go at reasonable prices one ebay).
You and other siblings could write a special piece in the book or have a special page each at the begining of the book.... about your happiest childhood memories, why they are so special etc. (perhaps with a photo if there is a suitable one)
On my grandparents golden wedding my mother made up a yellow (golden) rose corsage and a buttonhole for my grandfather
How about a golden wedding rose bush?...most garden centres have them.
Hope they have a super time!!
