Wrongly charged VAT

I pay a monthly amount for a stable and field. The owner is charging VAT as a separate amount on the bill but isn't VAT registered. Is this OK? If not, can I reclaim the VAT element from her?

No it is not ok.
What have you said to them?0 -
Hi. I haven't said anything yet - she's quite a scary person! I've been paying her vat for about 2 years as have others on the yard. She splits what normal livery yards would charge as a single amount - in my case £100 pcm - into two amounts: a lower monthly fee + vat to make it up to £100 Thanks for responding0

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.
Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

Thank you for responding. Thing is can I get back the vat amount I've paid to her? She hasn't just ripped off Hmrc she's taken my money - and everyone else's - under false pretences I will report her once I've got my ponies safely away0
