Westcot Credit Services - do they sue?

I have a defunct O2 contract on which I apparently owed £34.99 (not sure how they get this, my contract was £17.50/mth I think), which has been passed to Westcot.
They passed this to 'Nelson Guest & Partner Solicitors' who threatened legal action
I quite welcome the legal action, because O2 owe me about £20 on another contract, which they have made no attempt to pay back, and I would cheerfully countersue them for that.
However, since this letter (dated 10th August), I have moved.
So I have no idea whether they have sued or not, because they don't have my new address.
Any ideas? Would they bother for this small an amount?

from my experience, oh yes they would bother cause they start adding on charges. I had a small debt of £27.99 when i eventually sorted it it was £107.99. They sent a door collecter out apparently to my old address. I would just pay it and deal with O2 afterwards just to be safe
Hope this helps0 -
The people who lived here before us left huge debts behind - one of which was with Westcot.
Over 3 years on and despite writing to courts and showing drivers licences to people at the door, we are still getting Westcot amongst many many others turning up at our door, phoning us asking for the previous people, letters etc. Goodness only knows how old this debt must be as we had Wescot putting cards through our door the day we moved in and the house had been empty for 6 months before that!!
In my experience I would say that if Wescot do sue, then they don't do so in a hurry!!0 -
Westcott from the other side of dealing with them are one of the easiest to get along with. My ex partner has had an accoutn with them for over 8 years and they have been the easiest going.
Did you end the contract with 02 probably according to the terms and conditions you signed up to, if you did not pay up now it does not matter whether they owe you money or not on another account this is the account they are dealing with now.
For the money that is owed to you on the other account do it properly write to them explain why you think they owe you £20 and tell them you will take it through the small claims court.0 -
Just to resurrect this thread. Have just applied for £20/month broadband contract with Three. Was rejected. Checked credit record (Equifax, not Experian, I had a free credit check with Experian before).
Everything looks pretty much ok:
1 settled current account, no defaults
3 open current accounts, no defaults, no overdraft
5 settled mobile contracts 3 without issue, 1 was 1 month late, plus the O2 contract above
current contracts with two companies including O2
3 current credit cards, all without defaults, plus 8 previous, all without defaults
The issue is obviously with the O2 contract, which looks like this:
April 2007: 1
May 2007: 2
June 2007: 3
July 2007: 4
August 2007: 5
September 2007: 6
October 2007: 6
November 2007: 6
December 2007: Default
January 2008: Settled
Says
Date Last Delinquent: 02/08 Date Satisifed: 03/02/2008. Default/Delinquent Balance: £8
Any ideas about getting this removed? Obviously O2 aren't too upset as I took out a new contract with them last year.
I sent a letter to Westcot in September 2007 saying that O2 owed me money, but I don't remember receiving anything more.0
