Going bankrupt

Decided to go bankrupt cuz I have £80 a week to myself, all wages arrested. Got council tax arrears, rent arrears (to a housing association)) and just only option left for me.

I'm in Scotland but panicking that I'l get evicted. Landlord is taking me to court this week but I don't know what best to do? Going to cab tomorrow but just would like some opinions. Have social housing landlords been known to evict bankrupts (Melville Housing in this case)

Just had a new baby too who stays at my mrs house but there's no room there for me :(

  • Sequestration has some distinct differences to bankruptcy and how it is managed and administrated.

When you have spoken with CAB, contact the Debt Advisory Centre on 0161 413 9583.

Be aware that the advice here is 99.9% to do with bankruptcy in England & Wales, so numbers, amounts, phrases and advice/experiences don't always cross over the border. If you need a place to talk however, you've found the best one going.

I would going bankrupt would help with a social landlord. At least if you will be in a situation where you won't build up further arrears

. It maybe worth telling the housing association if you haven't already that you are taking advice/going bankrupt, if they believe you simply have head in sand, this might buy you breathing space, I would confirm this advice elsewhere though incase I'm well off the mark.
