Government subsidised boiler scheme nightmare.

I really don't know where to best put this for some much needed advice but here goes:

I was eligible for this and dutifully paid my share toward it and ended up with Northern Gas providers/installation.
It took them over 2 months of broken promises and much messing me about before they actually installed anything but finally was done 20 July. Simply put the heating part doesn't work. It's a combination of where he has put the thermostat and the shonky build of the thermostat. It's simple enough and after more time wasting and general uselessness they were to send someone out 2 months ago to sort it out. He never showed. Further phone calls have got me nowhere. It's always down to 'a customer service manager will call you back' which they never do. I have written emails. I have complained on their facebook page and on their own review feedback.
Without making too much of it I have had several bouts of major surgery through all this and being freezing cold isn't helping recovery not to mention the hours and hours wasted calling them. They knew all about the helath and surgery aspect and have it all on record too but nothing ever gets done.
This company is mainly just an incompetent lazy mess but that is not going to heat my house. I need to take this to their certified body but I'm drowning in misleading 'boiler sites' google throws up and can't find that or even a lead to contacting the Government department involved. This company is taking loads of money and not providing even close to any sort of service in return.
Can anybody help please?

    I would contact the Energy Ombudsman and see if they will accept a formal complaint, or if they 'slope their shoulders' they should be able to put you in contact with the organisation that deals with this issue.
  • Hi could you tell me if your situation was resolved? I am looking at forming a class action suit against northern gas heating for their misconduct and for ruining many people's homes. So far I have heard of 5 other people's houses who have been damaged- you mention your heating system doesn't work but we're any damages to property involved? One lady I have been speaking to had her ceiling fall down.

  • I'd make an appointment to see my local Citizen's Advice centre. They work wonders for situations like this in Dunstable. They will have all the contact details for the Ombudsman and have a hefty clout when they contact them for you.
