And?? Sorry you've lost me. I would either do an inscription that would say 'Name on your baptism <date>' or <Name> on your Christening day.

Same way I'd either do an inscription for people getting married to
<couples name> on your marriage or <couples name> on your wedding day.

    But I wouldn't put <couples name> on your wedding.

The CofE link I gave above mentions different Churches (of England) using either term.

I was thinking of the OPs wording, they suggested Mary Jean Smith, Christened on November 7th 2016 and in that instance i think
Mary Jean Smith, Baptised on November 7th 2016

As I said in the RC church Baptism is a sacrament and it is Baptism not Christening, might be different in other denominations. I don't know about sacraments and other denominations. Maybe I should find out.

We have seven sacraments, again I don't know if this is the same for all denominations. One of the things I remember in catechism is learning how to baptise a baby in an emergency. Hard to imagine someone with a very sick baby allowing a seven year old to rush in take charge and perform the baptism. I did quite fancy doing it though.

Having said all that I did my catechism classes pre Vatican II so I might be a bit out of date.

I'm a Baptist, I imagine you can guess the wording I would use. OP, could you not engrave Mary Jane date and avoid the worry?
