You should ring your lender and check if you will have any Early Repayment Charges if you pay off the mortgage early.
Explain that the Life insurance company are going to pay out on the policy.
Speak to you partner and ask what they want !
If they want a holiday then have one even if you can only stay in the UK.
You may find travel insurance impossible to get for travel abroad
Check if you can make a part overpayment if on a fixed deal !
I am allowed to overpay by 20% each year on my interest only mortgage even though we are in a fixed period.
You need to keep a good emergency fund ( up to £16,000 )0
