O/S Daily Sunday 6th November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all, nearly 3 weeks since I last posted. Had a family crisis that needed full attention but now things are calmer. Hugs to all those in need of one, especially those with poorlies and those that have lost loved ones xxx

Off to take DD to rugby training shortly. It's a crisp day so a hot drink will be in order. Washing and ironing to do when I'm back. I have the next week off before starting my new job. Managing to fill my days odd - must remember to have a but of time for myself.

    Have a good day

Morning Coxy and all to follow,

Like yesterday its bitterly cold here today very crisp with a biting wind when I got up the log burner still had embers so I shoved some newspaper and kindling on and its now roaring away its lovely and toasty in the lounge.

We took Evie over the field yesterday where the firework incident had happened, she did not bat an eyelid although it was day time, I think it helped too that she met seven of her playmates over there and had a really good play with them. Last night we had a local firework night and she was very nervous and actually got in her bed and let us cover her over, she normally never gets in her bed and wont ever be covered. Its our village display tonight so another night to go through and then hopefully it will start to slow down.

Today I have stripped the beds and got them in the wm will hang them out because although cold there is a good breeze so they might dry off a bit, OH will remake them later on.

We have minty lamb chops for dinner I was in the butchers yesterday and saw them and really fancied them will do some mash and veg with them.

I need to do an online shop today as we are very low on lots of things and have a quick tidy round, its not too bad as we had a good clean yesterday.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Thanks for the thread Coxy, glad to hear that things have calmed down a bit for you.

Just enjoying a late breakfast of bacon butties before heading off to collect DM, its bright and sunny here but cold, the wind has no manners and goes right through you!

Had a busy but good day yesterday, must have been tired as slept right through to 5am this morning which is unheard of for me nowadays, must have been the new pillows :)

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

I am so glad things have settled down for you.

I have just looked out my winter coat, ankle boots (approved by DD) have arrived and my new trousers and tops have passed inspection by my very own fashion police ;) As there are four of them plus a son in law they won't let me "let myself go!"

I defrosted chicken breasts overnight to go with the garlic chicken I bought as there will be four of us for lunch, thinking two or three would be plenty and leave some cooked chicken for a couple of other meals.

There are five huge chicken breasts defrosted!!!

I have marinated them and will roast them with the chicken and potatoes, serve with broccoli, leeks and green beans and yorkie puds and gravy. No one is going hungry that is for sure!

Hoovered and tidied quickly and about to make the batter.

    Hugs to all

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very chilly here this morning so I will be going and getting dressed in a minute. I had a lovely long lie in and then my hubby made me dippy eggs and soldiers so I have had a great start to the day :D.

I am very happy as my hubby got all my cardmaking stuff down from the attic yesterday. I wanted to make some special cards for my Mum and MIL for Christmas and I have lots of lovely papers and cards saved from a few years ago. My diecutting machines are downstairs too now so I will have a play with them after lunch. I have really missed crafting with them so I am delighted to have something to keep me busy.

Hubby is going to make a roast chicken dinner and tesco substituted our two little chickens for two massive ones so we will have loads of leftovers which will be fab as I have several chickeny meals planned for next week.

Other than that the girls are going to get a room each to clean as well this afternoon. I can hear the moaning already. I need to clean my desk as I have an avalanche of paperwork ready to sort.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning folks. I'm rather late joining you this morning. DD had some tragic news about one of her friends in the early hours. She is so upset as they have been friends since infant school. It was an end that shouldn't have happened and that's the tragic part. Three children left without a mum. Even though they have been in the custody of their dad for the last year or two it won't be any less upsetting for them. So sad but she is at last now at peace I hope.

It's taken all the pleasure out of looking forward to our holiday tomorrow. I'm going through the motions of packing our cases but my heart isn't in it.

I'll be back with you later when, hopefully, I'll feel a bit calmer. (((HUGS))) to all else in need of one xx

    TA

Virtual hugs to you and your DD who must be stunned at such a young death and children left without their Mum.

    Afternoon all,
I was just having a quick read through before going shopping, saw TA's post-thats awful and so sad for the children left behind :( It seems one thing after another at times doesn't it ?

We have had DGC here since Friday night,DGD has just gone so hopefully I'll get a bit of time for myself,it's in very short supply these days.I want to do a bit of crafting too but my stuff needs organising better. Before we moved I had a spare bedroom and could leave it all out and shut the door. Its all in our bedroom here now.

Ly1a was awful last night-I'd given her tablets but she was restless and panting all night long.I stayed down till about 12.45 as some idiot let a rocket off about 12 which then landed on our conservatory type roof in the kitchen with a great thump, just as she was calming down a bit.Just seen a message from her 'sisters' owner and her dog was sick and had the runs 4 times, thankfully outside as the bangs had stopped there:( Just hope there arent too many tonight.

Right better go and pick up some food, hope you can all enjoy your day xx
