Final pay calculation help

Fifth Anniversary Combo Breaker

I changed jobs in August of this year and am slightly puzzled with the final payslip I recieved from my previous employer.

My gross annual salary was £40,000 and my normal monthly gross salary was £3333.33

My final full working day at my previous employer was 19th August 2016.

Upon negotiating my leaving date, I was told I would have 5.21 days of unused annual leave which I could either use or be paid for. Due to project commitments it made sense to take the option to be paid for this.

My final payslip shows a gross salary of £2333.31.

There is no mention of any specific deduction, or the addition of the unused holiday.

I have (politely) emailed both the payroll administrator and the head of finance to query this, but have recieved no response from either.

How can I work out how my final pro-rated pay was calculated? Does the above seem correct and how should I pursue this further?

Only looking at the numbers and without doing any calculations I would say that they havnt included any holiday pay in there (assuming you are paid from beginning to end of month and not from some date in the middle)

Going on a pay period of calendar month.

    2333.31/3333.33 = 0.7
Aug had 23 working days you worked 15 0.652
average per month would work out at 0.692
or 3/52 of the year £2307.70

    nothing seems to match.
  • Thanks for the replies. It didn't make sense to me how they arrived at that amount.

They took their time to respond. Apparently only 1.5 days' annual leave were included. I still can't work out how they arrived at that amount, but I should be paid the remaining annual leave later this month.
