Caster Sugar £1 for 1Kg at Poundland

Mr T's wanted £1.60 for a kilo of caster sugar today so I went to Poundland and got the a kilo of Whitworths for a quid :j no wonder Mr T's is empty half the time .

I also bought a couple of kilos of granulated sugar in Iceland for a quid and will give them to DD as they use ordinary sugar. I have before whizzed ordinary granulated stuff up in my blender but today I wanted the real stuff for a change

I always give ordinary sugar a whizz.

Don't understand how the shops can charge so much more for caster

Some recipes I don't even bother to whizz it, it's usually stuff for the grandkids and they don't know the difference :)

I do too as a rule but was a bit pushed for time today;) I may get another two bags of ordinary sugar for my store cupboard from Iceland at a quid they will be really worth it. I think Tesco's is jumping on the GBBO wagon as they had a big display of cookery based tins ,flour and decorating products. I don't bother with 'cooking chocolate' my DGS like the ordianry basic white and milk chocolate at 30p a bar to decorate cakes with I just grate it up for sprinles to go on top of a cake :):):)

Yep I buy the basic Tesco chocolate here as well. I just chop into chunks for cookies and muffins. Lidl do some lovely chocolate buttons dead cheap as well. DGD eats more then she mixes in :)

Told you before on the stop buying it thread, you remind me so much of my great aunt pat in what you write, even down to the family holidays. We used to go to the same caravan in Bognor every year and she would treat us to a wimpey meal. And if we couldn't manage the burger she used to wrap it up in a serviette and pop it into her handbag for later :)

Didn't waste a penny that woman. She kept us kids fed on what seemed like fresh air at times

How much is it in Farmfoods these days? I recall a recent post when it was on offer for a knock down price. It may have been granulated though.

Caster was £1 for 1kg yesterday, granulated was up to 59p, had been 39p for a while.
