Money Moral Dilemma: Should I share the vouchers from my complaint win?

This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks...

After a hellish flight, I complained about the service. My partner at the time said that we wouldn't get anywhere but now, after we've broken up, I've been sent a £200 voucher. Should I share it, even though I did all the legwork?

You should keep it. It appears they wouldn't have bothered complaining and you are no longer together so I would just keep it.

If the £200 was compensation for two people, because both people had a bad experience then you share it.

If you only mentioned one person when you complained then it's all yours.

You did the work and they are paying you the money. It's yours. I'd advise you spend it on something that will make you happy which you wouldn't normally be able to do/buy.

To carry on from who paid for the flights... if you paid for the flights, you keep the compensation. If you both paid half or some portion each, split the comp accordingly. That would be the honest, and kind, thing to do.

Naah, you keep the full £200! He/she is your ex, you've both had to move on with your lives and £100 each is just not worth losing any sleep over. That might sound a bit cold and clinical, but the truth is most partnership/marital breakups involve amounts (and, in most cases, disputes over) thousands and hundreds of thousands of pounds..especially where property is involved. A £200 flight voucher? Get it spent, and raise a smug glass to your ex wherever you choose to go with it, celebrating the fact that the trip was their loss (as was you!)

NO!! You did the legwork. He never would have received it if it wasn't for being with you (which he was THEN but isn't NOW!).
