Problems opening business account after Bankruptcy

Hi everyone.
I have been discharged 2 July 2006 and also allowed to be a Director of a company again. However, in order to open a business account, all sorts of credit checks need to be done which I failed, at least with the Abbey. Has anybody any ideas on how to overcome this? As by money laundering regulations all diretors need to be listed, I cannot even say 'I don't want to be on the form'.
Any ideas which bank will accept us? We do not need cards, etc. Not even a cheque book, really. Simply an account to collect money for cqs and bacs on business transfers.

Any suggestions welcome

  • They are not scrictly business accounts but check out the sticky at the top of the board. The Co-op have one that gives you an Electron card. There is also info from others on other accounts that may help you.

All very well. To get a 'private' account is relatively straight forward. If you need a business account in a business name, things change. Has anybody had any luck on that front?

I am considering setting up in business again - I was discharged in April 2007.
At the moment nothing has been fully agreed, and I don't want to 'jump the gun' in case of a possible c0ck-up before everything is signed.
However, we have, also, found it difficult to get a business account and have been advised to set up an account initially in my business partner's name only and to add my name as a signatory once the business is fully up and running.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
