Halifax Mortgage application

Hi Everybody!
I wonder if anybody could give me any peace of mind. Me and my partner have applied through an MB for a Mortgage. He is self employed and I am employed full time with a combined income of 70K. With a large-ish deposit our LTV is 87%
We were directed to Halifax by our MB as they tend to be slightly more lenient towards self employed bodies than some other lenders.
We did our searching slightly backwards we had our mortgage adviser meeting just before a viewing, had an idea of what we could lend (which was more than we needed)
that day we saw the house and out an offer in not yet having a DIP - risky I know
I will give you an idea of our timescale so far;
16/10/16 - MB meeting, offer put in
18/10/16 - offer accepted
20/10/16 - 2nd MB meeting DIP accepted
21/10/16 - Full application submitted & Solicitors instructed
25/10/16 - Valuation fee taken, extra information req by Halifax and sent.
31/10/16 - Deed instruction information submitted to solicitor by us.
We do not seem to be getting any information from MB, Planners or solicitors? Is this normal I feel like I'm in the dark. All such a worry. I know it is just a waiting game and everyone's case is different. but we are both in good credit and shouldn't really have any problems I just hate not knowing or being in control.
Help!! xx

Ask the selling agent when the valuation is booked for. You can then expect the offer to be issued a couple of days after the report is returned to the lender by the surveyor.
If you are not getting updates automatically, you need to ask those concerned to update you instead.I am a mortgage broker. In a similar boat, we are now waiting to exchange at the end of the month, and as someone who likes to micro manage everything it has been a bit of a nightmare being left out of the loop for periods of time. Just need to remain patient, and treat 'no news as good news' (for your own piece of mind, as much as anything else). They will soon let you know if there are any issues.0

So Halifax were waiting on my response for a late payment on my credit, asked for my Experian report which shows a score of 984 out of 999 - Excellent.
I advised my paraplanner I had no late payments and it took Halifax a week to reply to tell me that I needed to explain this mysterious late payment.
After speaking to 2 x advisors at Experian I was told I had no late payments showing on my report at all, however the second advisor said that I could try checking "equifax" as they may see something Experian don't.
I signed up for equifax and again perfect credit no issues but wouldn't accept any more that 3 years addresses. I rang customer services to ask if they could add my previous addresses just to have a look to find out if anything came up - I was desperate at this point.
After a few minutes on hold the advisor came back to me to tell me I had a default account opened in 2009 and defaulted in 2011 for £715 !!!!
At an address I had never lived at or even been to.
Turns out somebody had used my name, middle initial, surname and DOB to open an account and subsequently never make a payment which has stored on my credit file.
Needless to say I have reported the account as fraudulent and am hoping this is removed from my credit file.
I have passed this on to my paraplanner much to her joy as it was becoming tiring chasing nothing.
Anyway moral of the story if anybody is in the same boat as me, being told by lenders to explain something you know nothing about... look further than Experian.
This all happened today so will keep you updated from now...0 -
Glad you found out what it was, sounds like a bit of a nightmare scenario.0
