Donations Via Paypal

Sorry not sure what part of forum should put this in.

but i have a paypal account, i also run a free website giving advice on sport etc...

i have heard that i can put my e-mail address up that is registered with my paypal account and that people can send donations useing my e-mail?

so for example if i put my e-mail up on my website, so people can make donations if they want, is that safe?

it all seems abit to easy and unsafe, is the above correct and most important of all is it safe?

i need your help please. i have connected the html to my website. brings up donation button on website. i have tested it myself, when i click on it it takes me to paypal website, but big square empty box thats all and below it says:

"click here to retry" and
"return to homepage"

have i done somethink wrong.
