1972s ‘Deliverance’ is a memorable classic for many reasons. It’s actually a damn decent film that has Burt Reynolds in it (quite a rarity!) That unforgettable banjo duel and some brutal encounters with a bunch of hillbillies, that we guarantee that once seen, will not be forgotten!
For you ‘Deliverance virgins out there, the film follows four friends who set out for the Georgia back country to canoe down a river before it’s destroyed by development. Unfortunately, backwoods USA is as scary as the scenery is beautiful. When two of the party are taken hostage by the less than social locals, an attempt to free the pair results in the death of one of the mountain men.
The lad’s are literally up a brown coloured creek without a paddle as an army of many fingered rednecks with enough questionable dna between them to make Dolly the sheep look like the purest creation, put them through a hellish nightmare of degradation and bottom clenching terror.
‘Deliverance’ is a must see film that will either have you quaking in your boots or strumming a banjo! A brand new release of the DVD is available to buy from 17 September 2007, and we’re very pleased to have five copies of this feature packed edition to giveaway on DVD.
Featuring a host of all new documentaries and a fascinating commentary from director John Boorman, this is the one to own.
