How to get rid of curry sauce stains on fabric

Hi everyone,

I love curry sauce, and am normally very, very careful with it, but today I managed to get two marks of it on one of my favourite shirts.

I have a vanish bar, so put some of that on and then put it in the washing machine.

It is a blue tartan shirt, made from cotton.

After the wash the stains were reduced but are still there.

If anyone has any top tips, either Old style or new style, I would be very grateful.

I have a feeling this may happen again in the future so would like to know how to solve it if it happens again.

Thank you for reading.

If you can get hold of stuff called savon Marseille, it ids amazing stuff. Dirt cheap abroad and it shifts even stubborn stains. It's a bit like a bar of vanish, but better and really gentle on the hands when using.
I have to say on the subject of vanish, that the bar is much better than the spray IMHO.

I work in a Nursing Home and my friend at work says if they have used turmeric then you don't stand a chance of getting a stain out.

    Very best of luck.

    What colour is the stain?

If orange - try leaving outside in daylight and the sun will fade it. Shouldn't affect the fabric. Used to do this with baby clothes after outings where we used jars of food! They always seem orange!

Just put the shirt in the sun and the stain will go.

Leaving it out on a frosty night can work wonders with a stubborn stain - first discovered this with towelling nappies!

One night, drunk in an indian restaurant, I managed to tip the entire contents of my whole curry-laden plate right into the lap of my light blue dress. I bought some vanish and using only a small handbasin with a cold tap (as I was staying away from home at the time so had no access to washing machines/hot water/detergent etc) I just kept using it and rubbing/rinsing and after 3-4 goes it had completely gone.
