Dropped pumpkin!

Options
Son, having scraped out seeds & raffle, then scraped a layer of the flesh for me to make soup with before carving.
He stepped back to admire the artwork, & it escaped & succumbed to gravity.
Suggestions on how to cook a broken pumpkin & separate bowl of flesh, please?!

Roast the skin part and turn the flesh into soup?

Flesh in fridge, some of skin peeled & roasting (the yanks add nutmeg - will be interesting to try) & some turned into a thick soup cooked up with tomato & onion & pepper.

The rest stashed in fridge awaiting ideas & weblinks!

I didn't think the pumpkins they sell for carving were for cooking, they're allegedly flavourless and stringy :o

They are. I had one last year. I suggest some kind of curry as it'll take on flavours well.

Yes the pumpkin veggie bolognese is working as there is enough garlic & onion in there to stun an ox.
Or a teenager. (I've not had to feed an ox before.)

Curried Parsnip soup sounds a lovely idea!

I made soup with one once, it was awful :(

However I do find they make an ok pumpkin pie.

Did you salvage the pips OP? I always roast them.

Thai style pumpkin soup with coriander pesto
This is my go to recipe for smashed and slightly candle singed pumpkins. Enough flavouring to make up for the bland supermarket pumpkin taste :)

No messing, that supermarket pumpkin is all size & next to no taste!

Will ask son what he did with the seeds. <imagination boggling slightly>

    Hi

Which recipe did you use for your pumpkin pie?

As I have read that those large Hallowe'en-carving pumpkins are a mega no-no for taste & texture i.e. are NOT! recommended/usable for making pumpkin pies.

But as those Hallowe'en-carving pumpkins only cost approx. £1 each, I'd like to try a pumpkin pie etc. :)

What recipe can you recommend ?

    Money, money, money . . . ! ;)
