Hi everyone
This is my first thread so bear with me!
Myself and my girlfriend have just found our first house we love. We have been dealing with an independent financial advisor who found us a great mortgage offer with Virgin Money.
Anyway, before progressing any further I signed up to Experian - and my concerns grew from there. Turns out in 2014 I had a default on a Capital one credit card (i was 22 at the time so quite naive when it came to the affects of a missed payment...this was all satisfied and has now been closed for 3 years. I have also had a payday loan in the past that is now cleared.
Anyway, fast forward to today and after declaring the default, the financial advisor has managed to get us a 10% mortgage approval in principle with Halifax - who Ive read good things about!
This was all last week and we have now provided 3x wage slips + bank statements. Ive also checked my bank statement today and saw money out my account to 'Halifax Direct Mortgage'
Is this a good sign things are going well to be approved or is this just standard practice? The default + a payday loan has really got me worried

Update: The application has been processed. Awaiting response this week - though no sign of Halifax engagement on my credit profile as of yet0

Trust your advisor. Lenders have different criteria. Your past credit history should not unduely impact your application.0

Im hoping someone out there will have had similar credit related concerns0
