Fixed Repayment Mortgage shortfall !!

I have just had my fixed repayment mortgage statement from the Woolwich , and it seems that I will have a shortfall of £2600. I contacted the Woolwich to ask how this could happen and was told that I missed a payment in september 2008. That is the first that I have heard of this and my mortgage payment comes out at the start of the month when I am paid. It has not shown up on any statement from 2008 and I have never been contacted by them. My direct debit has not changed since I took out my mortgage in 2007. I have contacted my bank for statements for this period but cannot see how this could have happened without me knowing.

Surely you did know when it happened. It is a bit difficult to miss a payment like a mortgage when you reconcile your account.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Wait until the bank statements come and then check.
Also take a look at your mortgage statement from that period.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I will check when bank statements come back and I can't believe I'd have missed them not taking it out. I don't know why they would just miss 1 month either.0

You've had an annual statement sent to you every year. Always advisable to review it. Just in case something is amiss.0

I have just checked 2014 statement online and that is perfect, no mention of missed payment and balance is spot on. That is the only statement that is online so will wait to see my bank statements. Strange that 2016 is now £2600 out. Doesn't add up.0

You need to get your mortgage statements and recheck those.
you have been keeping them and not throwing them out?
if you give details of the original deal, rate, amount borrowed, start of mortgage and payment it will be possible to work out if one missing payment would result in this shortfall.
with the details from an annual statement or two that will help.0
