thanks for that ben ben, is worth a go!! thought about getting as PAYG but then i wouldn't have the benefit of free minutes, then thought stuff it why should i!! think this ones going to be a contensiuos (sp) issue and i just need to minimise how much i use it and only return urgent urgent calls not just someone wanting an update on whats going on.
Is good news that it is tax deductable though so hopefully some return or redress that way.
Hope everything ok with you? xx

Are you self employed status and have to fill in a tax return...if you are and do...then get yourself an accountant and claim those mobile phone calls against tax....if not I don't know the answer.
RE...the other problems I would get welcome to explain it better to you so that you understand it....I'd pay all the little debts off and get Nationwide to sort out the card issue as things like that have a habit of coming back and biting you on the bum when least expected!!!...
Sorry I wasn't much help but wish you luck in sorting it out...

Just a tip on Northern Rock fixed rate loans - if you overypay them they don't reduce the interest. I found this out helping someone else wanting to overpay. Have a read of the T&Cs and it only mentions recalculation of interest on settlement, so we phoned them (I listened in on an extension) and asked. When my friend said "so it's better I save and settle in one go" the guy said "I can't comment on that". That meant a yes then!

Any overypayment will reduce the amount owed, however it's only if you settle early that interest is reduced, otherwise you'll pay the whole interest amount.

Hope that helps in finding answers to your quandry!

even though not self employed we still do a tax return apparently due to the allowances mileage and expenses that we incurr throughout the year, may speak to an accountant about it to get some idea, imagine the rebate on that sort of phone bill!!:j

Yep think i'm going to call nationwide and get that one squared away, last thing that i want is to think i'm DF then get a nasty shock!

    you're always a help taxi, thankyou. xx:D

Thanks Ali. i think the saving thing may be good. I may ask mum to open a savings account that i can whack money into. That way i won't be able to get at it! as i know that if i run short one month i'll dip into it and then be all annoyed with myself!:o and if as ginger ste suggested i can get one for 6% + i'l be onto a winner

what was i thinking!! Northern rock loan, dad took out approx a year and a half ago on my behalf to clear some debts, If i overpay this and get it gone sooner rather than later it is not going to improve my credit score in any way shape or form, it's the lowest interest rate (well for a debt thats still with the lender!! he he:rolleyes: ) and i wouldn't gain from paying it off.

    So, conclusion to yesterdays quandry

    1) Overpay mouldy smelly debts to get rid of them pronto, clear my defaults and improve credit rating, Leave Welcome for a while as i don't trust the theiving scumbags to give me an accurate balance even if i do overpay. Also it is doing my credit rating a favour by showing abolutely no missed or late payments so will help to build things up again.

    2) bite the bullet and contact nationwide, will then mean i am TOTALLY debt free on teh day i get the honour of posting on the DFW roll of, erm, honour! (too many honours in that sentence, sorry)

    3) Lead a staff mutiny and run out of the building carrying the boss by the ankles, feed him to a herd of minotaurs and begone with the mobile issue!

Nope seriously think i'll cut right right back on calls i make outside the house and they can wait until i get home all except the urgern urgent ones.
Will look into tax relief for this and other bits as well to try to recoup some of the cost
I'll speak to orange to ensure that i am on the best tariff for my needs to avoid going over and being hit with big call costs.
I'll also look into PAYG so if i do get close to my limit i can switch to PAYG and control it.

Thanks for all your advice yesterday guys, do the above proposals sound reasonable?
