Fifth Anniversary Debt-free and Proud!
edited 28 October 2016 at 11:14PM in Debt free diaries
Hi all :j

Long time lurker here facing up to my debts. I am 23 years old and managed to come out of uni fairly unscathed by debt then moved in with a partner and basically had to take out a loan and use credit cards and (fee free) overdraft just to survive as his income decreased to practically nothing. Not much support in the way of us getting out the hole and I was sinking further and further into the debt spiral. This summer, for a variety of reasons, I left and have been slowly getting myself back on my feet and making small dents here and there. Feeling ready now to tackle this full on and hopefully get all £11,868.65:eek: of debt paid off by December 2017! Setting myself a lofty goal in order to stretch myself but think I can manage it. I have stripped my outgoings down to a bare minimum and will be able to overpay an extra £300-£400 per month on top of the payments I make already. As my sig shows I have made a small further dent since my LBM at the start of October. Looking to use this diary for support and loving looking through the forum and seeing loads of people who have managed to pay off thousands in debt :T Also looking to lose a few (weighty) pounds so will be using this diary to track weight loss too.

Paying off £11k+ debt and losing 28lbs, hopefully not so wishy thinking!

Amazingly manifested a nearly £1000 windfall from HMRC so have managed to pay off my credit card and MacBook whilst also chipping away at my loan :) So close to my debt bein under £10k! Haven't lost any weight but eff it, it's Christmas...

  • So the weight loss hasn't gone very well (I've gained a 1lb) :rotfl: but I'm so excited that having been paid today I am officially debt free! :j I can't believe I've managed to do this less than a year after my first post. Such great inspiration on here, next stop savings
