    Hello EH

I've always meant to read your diary in full as I have a similar plan in mind :D though rather further off! De-lurking now and wishing you luck!

Ooh - exciting - where are you planning to de-camp to and what sort of time frame? Not sure I'd recommend trying to read my diaries in full mind - you'd need a high tolerance to cheese, mushrooms, and nonsense! :rotfl::rotfl:

I have a very high intake of/ tolerance for cheese :D and nonsense :D not so keen on the mushrooms though.

I went up to Lewis and Harris a couple of years ago and have had west coast / island ish hankerings ever since. Not sure the work situation would work out though, so for the moment I'm being grateful for the job I have and looking to buy down here (in the SE, though a different patch from you). I figure I can always get started on a transition plan and a mortgage reduction campaign while exploring the beautiful places further during holidays, so it's going to be several years away minimum and possibly longer... though you never know what might happen :)

Timelines on such things have a habit of stretching, we've found!

If you enjoyed Lewis/Harris, then you must aim to get back and visit Uist at some stage - just amazing there, although oddly we weren't fans of North Uist first time we visited! Since then though it's totally grown on us, and it's now the west coast there that we're eyeing up for the future.

Fab, thank you... I nearly made it there last time and then found that the ferry situation wasn't quite going to work :rotfl: . Currently planning a trip in the spring :)

Oh yes, we're familiar with the "issues" surrounding the Berneray > Leverburgh ferry. :rotfl: If it's not subject to changes due to tidal restrictions, the wind is in the wrong direction and she's tied up at the Berneray side! Not so bad now as it used to be before the new ferry though...

We'll be over in the spring too - May to be exact. Before that though we're going over for christmas! :j:j:j Can't wait!

Well aside the fact that I get the nasty feeling I'm on the start of a stinker of a cold, this week's not going so well so far. Madam is behaving herself moderately well - we did have a brief moment of patronising tone of voice earlier on but that's been as bad as it's got, really, and when she started hectoring on repeating what I needed to do ad infinitum, I politely told her she's already told me that, so it was fine, and she stopped! :rotfl:

Now I've got 26 minutes to go - and sadly it looks as though the traffic is going to be utterly carp on the way home. it was utterly carp on the way in, too - just one of those days!

NSD being claimed here - I'm stopping nowhere on the way back tonight - so all good there. Dinner *should* be relatively simple to sort - I've got the ragu sauce I made with the goat meat the other week from the freezer, and that is going to turn into lasagne - which just happens to be one of my favourites. :T it might even get some extra 'shrooms chucked in - and it's definitely going to be topped with a super-strength cheesey sauce - as we got three Wyke Farm vintage cheddars for £5 on Saturday! :D Just seems like the perfect winter-ish dinner, to me.

Beyond that, I think plans for this evening are simply the odd house-worky thing, sorting some washing, and telling this impending cold to "do one". I can handle Madam in the office, OR a cold - handling both though is not within my capabilities! :rotfl:

I had a similar moment yesterday - only my 'madam' is several 'misters' - - I know my limits! - so the stonking cold won out & I worked from home for a couple of hours today & slept the rest!
