Help! Letting Agent Credit Check Question

Hi,
I've recently got a new job in London (woo-hoo) and am relocating from Brighton. I need to rent a property and have had absolutely no luck in finding a private let. I am going to have to use a letting agent but I know I will probably fail a credit check as I am on an IVA. I can provide glowing employer and landlord references but wonder will my credit rating effect my chances of getting a property through an agent? Does anyone have any knowledge on this?
I'm in a real quandry!

I would maybe go into a letting agency explain the problem show some wage slips and bank stements that prove you can pay and see how it goes it may also help if you have someone who act as a guarantor (sp) on the rent for you.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

Hiya, Re Letting agencies, they are usually fine unless you have CCJ's. i managed to get through with a credit rating of very poor and a score of 181!!!
They do offer guarantor schemes usually or the option to pay 6 months rent in advance if you have family that can help you out with this and you pay the monthly rent to them instead of to the agency.
Also don't get ripped off by the agencies, there are so many different charging tariffs be sure to find a good one. Some agencies offer a preliminary credit check for a very small sum o fmoney to get an idea what the result will be before entering into the full checking process. I think i paid about £15 for a minor credit check and it came back fine. Good luck!!debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0
