Soaked lentils take very little time to cook. I would also put them in immediately, as candygirl says. :)

  • If they are the tiny little split red lentils, next time you dont even need to soak them - as long as you bring whatever you're cooking them in to the boil for a few minutes before simmering :) I've done this with spaghetti sauce many a time. But split pea type pulses do need to be either soaked or boiled for a while before adding in.

This is correct, I was presuming they were the former, hence my advice:D :D

  • Aye, I'd noticed :D but wanted to prevent any danger of tummy upset by emphasising had to be brought to the boil... friend of mine did that with the oh so innocent wee lentils once, tipped them into something that was on a lukewarm simmer for not enough time... ended up sharing intimate time with Armitage Shanks not that long after !
