HMRC cheque sent

Applied on Sunday for a tax rebate from 2012/2013/2014 online. It said to expect response by 27/11 - had a look today and it says

HM Revenue and Customs sent you a cheque for £1,172.94 on 26 October 2016

So this means they've posted it out yesterday, I'm assuming? On the gov website it says

If you’re expecting a cheque
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will usually send your cheque (or ‘payable order’) within 5 weeks, but it may take longer in some cases.

So am I looking at 4/5 days for post, or 4/5 weeks for them to send and me to receive it? I did apply for a BACS but can't complain too much. Hopefully it'll be here in time for the red guy to visit.

I'm probably missing something obvious. Surprised how quick it's been done to be honest

If they've sent it I'd expect it to mean it will turn up in the next few days. I think they say 5 weeks to cover themselves but my mum's cheque turned up a couple of weeks after her request was made.

Thanks, this was my thinking / hoping too. Be great timing for me if so. :)
  • According to gov.uk you don't qualify for BACS repayment unless it specifically mentions this on your P800 calculation
