  • Good Morning :hello:

    By my own admission, I achieved nowt yesterday, other than childcare and making a couple of meals :(

    I've seen a really nice bungalow to rent, but know we would quickly get ourselves in a financial mess if we took it, as we just would not be able to complete all the work at Greying Towers, that needs doing before we could sell/let it out. So %#!*ing annoying. I hate living here.

    Yesterday's tea was pasta with tomato, olive 'cream' (actually yoghurt) sauce.

    I've still no idea about today's tea. I've a feeling the 'ripe' avocados are going to be less than co-operative.

    The week started so well too.

    There are times when I wish I didn't have to be so budget concious, and 'live for the moment' has quite alot going for it in the current climate.

    We will hopefully get out and about for a breath of fresh air (part of yesterday's problem) and hopefully pick up the TV guide whilst we're about it.

    I'm signing off, and going to work on my attitude.

    Much love, Mrs Grumpbucket :( X

  • Right, I have given myself a kick up the b.u.m. Spent time out in the sunshine :j counted my blessings (I was there for a considerable amount of time :D), bought some postage stamps, which reminded me that I have good friends with whom I keep in touch regularly, and friends who love to hear all about our adventurising - even if it is only to the next town along........ and have generally drawn a line under the developing pity party for 1 :o

    It also helped that whilst I was out, I nicked into m&$ for some bananas and came out with quite a haul of YS'd things :j Not stuff for pennies, but goodly discounted (or too expensive in the first place......), and within my affordability range. DH will be deee-lighted, nay ecstatic that I bagged a pound of sprouts for 35p :j:rotfl: A far better discount than mrW bother to do....... And they ain'y just any auld sprouts, oh no, thanks to farmer Robert Kirk of West Lothian, they are Scottish sprouts :D And they will be in my 'salad' bowl for tea tonight :D I also got some chestnut mushrooms x 3, carrots x 3 and maris piper potatoes (2.5kg) - total spend, £3.05 :j And I remembered to buy the bananas as well :rotfl:

    And when I returned home, I found a text message and pic from a (newish) friend - which put an even bigger smile on my face (and actually on BG's too!). How rich my life :D

    Right, better sort out summat for lunch.

    Ta for popping by. Appreciated.

    Hi Greying

    you're one of the most positive people I know so don't beat yourself up for having a grump day. Mr F has one of those most days so you've a way to go before you're up to his standards :rotfl:

    Your home sounds like a happy one and that's the most important thing about homes for me. Plus it is Baby Greying's first ever and that's a fabulous memory to have of the place.

    Glad the sunshine has brightened your day.

    Aw Greying (((((((((((((()))))))))))))) sorry to hear you were all grumpity this morning. We can't all be cheerful all the time lass but it truly is gloomy to feel gloomy :( Glad you're feeling a bit better. Most vexing about the house of course :( Excellent YS news though :D :j :j :j

    Microwaved omelette here for tea :D Slightly better on the 'did Cheery cook tea?' scale than a supermarket £1 pizza but not much :o :rotfl:
  • Good Evening :hello:

    Thank you for your posts - it is appreciated. I mentioned the bungalow to DH, and he just pulled a face. Having a child has made him really risk adverse, which is understandable, and yet...... I don't know how we're ever going to leave here, and yet it gets a worse area to live in, year on year, on year.

    We can't achieve much single-handed, one of us has to mind BG, and we've no support mechanism with family - mostly to do with lack of capability to look after a child due to ill health, so have no chance of having time to tackle tasks together.

    Don't know how we're gonna sort things.

    However, I did get my sorry-ar$3 into gear and sorted out more things that can be donated to charity. Again, it is predominantly baby 'stuff', but we've benefitted from donations of used things and bought from charity shops, so it all just keeps going around, raising money for charity as it does so. It also meant that I tidied a (very small) corner of Greying Towers, which had become an inadvertent 'dumping ground' for kindly donated items that will 'come in' as BG gets older. So, progress of a kind. And it means that the items will exit the house quicker if they are in a 'donate' pile - well, worked last time, anyway :D

    I spent a pleasant time making chickpea and mushroom bangers this afternoon, under the watchful gaze of BG :D But I got a bit pushed for time, and only did 6 'bangers' - the rest are 'sliders' :rotfl: It's a nice recipe though - from a student cookbook. I put herbs in mine this afternoon, and paprika flakes, ring the changes a little.

    I served them up with brown basmati rice and shredded sprouts (lightly steamed in the microwave) mixed up with grated carrot, seeds and a garlic, lemon vinagrette. I didn't smoosh (technical term) the garlic enough for visual appeal, but luckily we like garlic, and ate it up anyway :D Picture here;

    Pbucket loaded in seconds tonight - go figure........

    Cheery - I had an omlette for lunch - Thursday must be the day for them :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    the support of very, very kind MSE'rs
    - THANK YOU :D

    lovely messages from a friend in RL :D

    for life - warts and all

    Ta for popping in, reading and supporting me. Know that your time and support is never taken for granted, not expected, but very, very much appreciated. Thank you.

    Aw Greying, be kind to yourselves xxx You're still in the early days of getting to know Baby Greying and things that seem impossible now might just become possible at some point in the future :)

    I hate myself for even suggesting this (because of the number of times people have said it to me and I've hated it :o) but is there any way you can stick the house on the market as it is? Having spent over 2 years doing what seem to many people pointless 'renovations' (ranging from changing paint colour to rebuilding ceilings) to my own house I can see both sides :o:o:o Please don't feel like you have to answer that at all - again, having spent years justifying what we're doing to all manner of people I know how frustrating it can be to have to keep arguing your case :o:o In my case, I would have loved to stick ours on as it was 2 years ago and be somewhere else by now, but I would have had to swap Mr Cheery for someone else and I didn't want to :D

    Anyway, you have a hug (((()))))))) you WILL change the location of Greying Towers one day I'm sure of it (that makes it sounds a bit like Howl's Moving Castle! :eek: :rotfl: ) xxxx
