Good Morning :hello:
rtandon - thank you for dropping inI've just been up to my oxters in a situation that seems to have drained every fibre of my being, strength and resolve. Maybe I'm just getting old............. Fighting Goliath is exhausting, frustrating, head-frying and stress-laden, I can see why people don't do it. I haven't been able to think much about money saving. Although I am very pleased to report that my autopilot kicked in and we're had some pretty frugal meals
The chipper, pizza haus nor curry house has not been neared, never mind entered into
We've a brief respite, before things may or may not kick off again, so life is tiptoeing back to normality.
I'd reached saturation point by Saturday, so we headed off on an adventure that had been planned, and part of which was in my THT - so I can tick another thing off :j We visited an elderly relative who'd not yet met BG - it was nice to see them, and they were glad to see uswe took a picnic lunch and headed over to one of our favourite haunts to munch that
Then on the way home we called in on a NGS open garden. Overpriced entry, small garden, weak tea and mean slices of cake...... is all that can be said about that. Oh, and a magnificent view - which I don't think you'd tire of waking up to everyday. Think we're gonna stick to NT gardens in the future though, more :money: methinks
My remaining grocery budget is currently standing at £6.80Don't know if I can make it. I'll try, but I'm doubtful. I did start off the month taking money 'back off' myself for last month's overspend, so I did start with a lower figure, but still.....
Someone is very kindly gifting us a little bit of HG garden produce, which is gratefully received. HM cake exchanged in return is a feature of this little transaction - I'll have to save the last of my eggs for it.
Tea this evening is slated to be soup - by necessity rather than 'oh, 'tis loverly weather for soup......' :rotfl:
Right, best get and do a bit of tidying up and get summat for my brekkie. I've had my coffee, showered and dressed, so not a bad start to the day!
Ta for your continuing support. It's greatly appreciated and never taken for granted. Ever.

Good Morning :hello:
Well, yesterday was an UP & down day and no mistake. The down bit is probably because I don't understand how a process works - and despite asking, I've not received answersStill, patience isn't my strong suit - perhaps answers will emerge out of the ether in time..............
Needless to say, we didn't have soupIt wasn't the weather for soup - pavement splitting sunshine all around  but I ran out of time too. So, instead of [STRIKE]defaulting to 'take-away'[/STRIKE] eating fresh air or toast, I rummaged in the freezer and we had l/o bolognaise, a YS'd stick of garlic bread and some pasta. The garlic bread was really quite nice - from m&$. I wouldn't pay proper price, but for 50p it was far superior to the mrW 'essentials' one that I would otherwise buy.
Today is soup weatherActually, it would help my budget if I made the soup I was going to do yesterday, and save tonight's tea for another day. I was going to use up some gifted courgettes, but they are in good condition, and will last days more yet. mmm, think I'll aim for soup - unless we get a heatwave by this arvo - which can't be ruled out I suppose, British summer and all that.
Can't really think of owt else MS. Can't really think straight at all at the moBut I'm trying, 'tas oft been said, I'm trying...... :rotfl:
Yesterday I was grateful for these 3 things;
timely intervention from a tip-top professional - so grateful for their help
for an e-mail with picture attachment showing a friend's 'conquering' achievement- they are such an inspiration
e-mail submissions saving me postage costs
Thanks for popping in. Very, very much appreciated.

Greying X
I have the following:
Carrots - ready peeled and chopped. Very YS :money:
A bag of butternut squash/courgette/red onion/red pepper. Very YS :money:
Courgette/beans - free from the nice people nearby :money:
Potatoes of the wonky variety :money:
I may just use all of it and call it "Smilie's Special Soup"0 -
Sorry to hear you have issues requiring Much Patience Greying. I'll gladly lend you some of mine, although I confess at the minute it"s a bit threadbare and useless amd used up with house buying
I hope you get the answers you need soon xxx
I picked up a couple of reduced things in Mr T yesterday - some sandwich thins reduced to 50p, and something else that now escapes me... oh a bag of salad leaves. But most of the reductions were rubbish and not worth bothering with - 75p for a bunch of 'fresh' herbs so disintegrated and battered that I couldn't even tell what they were - I don't think so!!
I did however acquire a bag of red lentils, 2kg for £3.60 I think. Should last us a while - I made a nice simple dahl for tea last night with green beans, and there wasn't much left so i brought it to work to have spread on sandwich thins with salad, like a kind of lentil pate :rotfl: off to see if that's worked in a minute...0 -

starnacHello lovely! We were in your neck of t'woods t'other week! I was thinking of you as we drove down the 'big hill' out of cheese city
It was raining, natch....... :rotfl: We were in and around about our old haunts
Took in the famous garden to the south of the capital and mooched around seeing how much had changed
All cwtches accepted hereThanks for the offer of help
You are so kind. At the minute, it's me and some people who are helping me, against Goliath. We've managed to get Goliath to 'hold their foot up' and think on for a minute. But as yet the matter is not resolved.
So glad you're back - are the *not so little anymore* starnacs on hols now? I think they probably are, as we were in the principality before term ended.
Lovely to *see* you - so glad you're back
