    Good Morning :hello:

Ha ha - that makes me hard done by as a kid Cheery - my mum thought that those crispy pancakes were 'exotic' and we rarely had them! :rotfl::rotfl: She'd rather serve up liver (which was cheaper than packaged food) that would be rejected by any half decent cobbler...... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Jury's out on the fish. I know that lovers of fish, will tell me that 'just from the sea' barely kissed by the coals fish would transform my appreciation, but we have to be honest. I don't live in Newlyn, and I can't even afford 'fresh' fish from the supermarket at approx £14 per kilo (cod loin), and frozen is where it is at with me. I was quite taken with the fish I bought in h3ron, just not feeling that I am necessarily 'missing out' if I don't buy any again. It is a dilemma though, I don't have any great desire to indoctrinate BG over food choices, per se. I'm happy for them to grow up as an omnivore - or rampant carnivore if they so choose, but if the choices aren't in the home they're not getting the exposure. Still, I suppose it is like some parents not wanting their kids to eat 'fast food'. We'll muddle through with it somehow.

Tonight's tea will be curry. I've come across a curry recipe that I printed off from the FN site some time ago, and I have the ingredients in already, so that can kick us off for our frugal July. Dhal and rice will most likely accompany. Or perhaps that should be dhal or rice ;)

I've a meal plan to sort out for this week, a shopping list to devise and general tidying up to start! That'll keep me out of mischief and out of the high-end couture shops....... :rotfl:

    Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

:rotfl: My mum would be pleased to think she was giving us a high end dining experience :rotfl: we ate almost exclusively from Kw1k S@ve (does that even exist now?) Speaking of meat, i remember at one point we got doled out part of the EU beef mountain - anyone else remember that? I just remember big blue tins with the EU logo on, think we had to go to school to collect them...

No, went bust/got taken over a good few years ago - about the time netto came on the scene. Our local stores went on to be S0merfield (subsequently a co-op and now an empty retail space) and fArm f00ds.

Right, so I've totalled up my grocery spends and I have a deficit of -£9.14 for June. So much for 'try harder'. In my defence, I bought 'good' food with the money, but still........ :oWhere does it all go to? And yes, I am asking that question having written every purchase down! :rotfl:

  • I think you should provide feedback anyway. You may not get the money back, though a till rec should reflect a discrepancy, but you would highlight a customer care issue.

I agree, till will be out by £4, and they often have cctv pointed at the tills for this kind of thing. Our local co-op do

Oh Greying that is grim, something similar happened to me recently at a cafe whilst on holiday. OH had bagged seats outside with dear dog while I went in to order tea and cake, I was so preoccupied in trying to work out how I might carry the arty farty wooden boards containing one pot of tea, milk, cups and saucers plus a plate with a piece of cake (I am a doddery old gal with crackered wrist joints too) that I picked up my change and receipt and headed for the door with one lot of tea (sent OH in for the cake and rest of tea), like you I did sort of register that there was much change, and whilst drinking and scoffing checked my change.

I knew that I had only one note (£20) but now had only change plus a fiver! I returned to the till and queried it, not expecting a good result, but the waitress checked the print out and gave me the benefit of the doubt and handed me a fiver to make it right.

May I chip in to say that big sis + BIL are hardened veggies, so my niece grew up completely veggie. Then she got a part-time job in KayEffSee and went down the 'dodgy' (in my opinion) meat route. Now, 2 years on, she is almost vegan. You keep setting your good example to bg in your way, bg will grow up knowing what is actually in what they eat. And all will be well.

Aw Greying, how vexing! Definitely worth a call to the manager - no only to tell them about service, but the tills will be out when they cash up tonight so there's a chance you may vet it back (also last time I complained about a minor issue to the c0 0p they gave me £10 of vouchers! :j )

I was going to say about the vegetarian kids thing - I know people who eat veggie at home and their kkds have plenty of opportunity to try meat at parties, friends houses etc if they like. :)

Hope the rest of your day is calmer!

Greying, that really sucks! You should mention it to a manager but just to play devil's advocate, it may not be the check out person's fault either - they are pushed and pushed to do things as fast as possible. Maybe they will reconsider company policy if you mention it though. Hope the rest of your day is better.
