Fixed term contract without history of contracts, chances of getting a mortgage?

Options
I am currently on a permanent contract but I have just seen a dream job I may apply for on a fixed term contract of either 1 year or 3 years. Me and my partner want to buy a house within the next year (we are first time buyers) so I am unsure about applying for these jobs if it means we wouldn't stand a good chance of getting a mortgage. At the same time, it looks like such a good job opportunity, I don't want to miss it.
Does anyone have any advice on this? I have seen other responses to similar questions stating that if you have a history of similar contracted work, it's possibly not a problem. As this would be my first fixed term contract of this type, that possibly puts me in a different position.

Thanks for any advice you are able to offer.

Nationwide are fine with contracts if you've been in your current one 1 year or have at least 2 years left. They gave us a mortgage 2 years ago on my first FTC (post PhD) and it was fine :)
