Hi, I joined my local gym last year and after a few months stopped using it as my circumstances changed so I cancelled the direct debit in order to cancel, I had not signed any sort of contract when joining. A few weeks later I had a letter from harlands explaining that I owed the months I had missed. A few more months went past, I forgot about it as we had a family bereavement and alot of other things going on. Then I received a letter from CRS explaining that I owed over £200. Most recent letter I have received says that I owe over £400. Has anyone had any experience with this company? What do I do?

Hi,
Common misconception that Cancelling the DD, cancels the contract, it dosent.
All it does is cancel the payment, you are still liable for the payments until you cancel correctly.
Different gyms have different cancellation policy's, you need to check your paperwork as you must of signed sone kind of agreement, or use of the equipment constitutes acceptance of the agreement.
Until then you will continue to be charged.
I suggest you contact the gym and try and sort sonething out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
