Glad to hear that your wife has Special Class status, so she could retire early with minimal reduction to her pension if she chose to do so. It's good to have a fallback plan.
I don't think she'd get much more via ill health retirement and it would be an additional stressful experience for her.
I think you need to be guided by your wife's wishes, frustrating as that may be at this very difficult time for both of you.0 -
Thanks to all for replies, advice - and support. We just need to suss things out so we are clear on our options for next year. We'll call NHS Pensions help line get an updated statement of her pension entitlement were she to 'retire' next year, and take it from there.0
