Hiring a consultant - where do I begin?

I run a small business and I'm looking for a real expert to help with our marketing efforts. I'm not really sure where to begin. I don't have a big budget and I definitely can't afford agency fees. Any ideas?

Are you on Linkedin? You might try to advertise there via your personal/company page. You can use Twitter and Facebook groups too post too. I think Gumtree also has a section where you can post an ad.ally.0
