FTC / Permanent / Contract

The term means employment contract! By your definition of contractor everyone who works is a contractor because everyone has some sort of contract. It is fairly clear that you still haven't understood what a contractor is. It isn't 'having your own ltd company'. Having a ltd company is a delivery mechanism for a contractor, but whether your work is contracting is an entirely different test. Such as all that "irrelevant" stuff like whether the tax man agrees with you!i get more money, near enough double
- whether you guys says yeah but tax this or tax that is irrelevant. My set up has been working perfectly for myself - (a) Tax regulations have the force of law. So they are not irrelevant. If you are caught flouting these rules it will cost you and the employer dearly - you will end up paying back the tax due. And (b) it hasn't been "working perfectly" - you started in mid-late June and you had been got rid of by the beginning of this month! That's far from perfect.
ok this 'contractor' word seems to be rubbing people up the wrong way on this forum... if not the word contractor... what are people supposed to use when clearly applying for jobs it says 3 months contract/6 months contract?0 -
Ive just been offered a 12 month FTC - (i purposely didnt say anything in the interview when the guy said about 'ill be on their payroll)
I emailed my recruiter and i said to them 'as i have my own ltd company, can i not bill the company daily or hourly, instead of me being on their paye?'
They just came back to me saying 'they wouldnt do that, they would only do me as PAYE on their payroll'...
Can someone tell me why this is? I even said im willing to sacrifice the benefits they offered, so that I can be a contractor billing the company.... (seems like that didnt make a difference......)
Anyone who has been in this situation, or has asked this question, id be more than happy to know!!!
Thanks,
You're trying to straddle both camps by applying for FTC and temp roles, as well as roles that are clearly contract roles.
If you want contract roles, apply for contract roles.
You need to decide what you are, then seek out the appropriate work.
If you find a FTC position that happens to suit - for example, you want to take it on for the experience - then you're going to have to accept its an FTC position and accept the proposed terms.
Personally, i dont bother as they dont pay anywhere near well enough0 -
