Now I am a bit stuck..called RBS today with my details and they can't find anything regarding my old account. I asked to be transferred to the recoveries team but they said they would only have the same data they have and my only option is to go into my local branch. I really don't want to do this but not sure where to go from here....I did ask for the address but they said I will need to provide ID so my only option is to go in and see if they can track the account down.
Does anyone have any ideas?0 -

You could do a subject access request, it costs £10, but will get you every snippet of info they hold on you.

I am just so worried about getting a CCJ by default though when so close to becoming normal again. Do you think if it came to that I could demonstrate I did try and get in touch?
Or should I maybe redirect all my mail for a year from my previous addresses just in case? As then I can preempt any really negative action. Not sure that is the cheapest option though. Just so frustrating as I really do want to sort it now.0 -

Mail re-direction is a good idea, if a creditor intends to take legal action they must write and tell you so first, it's called the "pre action protocol".
If after a year you hear nothing, you will be in the clear, but bear in mind they can still take legal action against you, even on a statute barred debt, you would need to tell them it's statute barred to avoid it going to court, so not updating your address may still come back to bite you in the future.
Maybe give National debtline a quick call and see what they advise.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
