Sort of wing it really
Today I had big plans because the grandkids arrive Thursday for the weekend, unfortunately pain stopped play
So all that got done today was cook and clean the kitchen up behind me
Hopefully tomorrow my arm will co operate enough to run the Hoover over and clean at least one bathroom If I don't catch up on the ironing by Wednesday, I'll hide it in the hot press
Bed making isn't going to happen this week for sure0 -

I do the same sometimes! And I love your use of Hot Press instead of airing cupboard, it's an Irish thing for sure!
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
I am very much a wing it person. Hubby came in and thought I had tided the kitchen - in reality I had cleared clutter, and wiped down one surface to make room for cooking for the freezer on my day off.
We finally got round to replacing freezer that died in the spring, then my car spent 11 days in the garage waiting for a part to arrive from Germany, and I have only just been able to do supermarket run to start filling it.
I once looked ventured on to the fly lady website and needed a relaxing glass of wine to help me recover.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
I used to wing it but now I work part time and tend to set aside Tuesday for housework, domestic admin and maybe batch cooking. Some jobs dk e kn other days. Bedding changed on Saturday morning. Dishwashing and laundry are dealt with daily. Bathroom gets a swish n swipe at least twice a week. Vac probably only gets done twice a week. There is only 2 of us and DH is very tidy!
I took redundancy earlier this year and now I provide house-keeping, shopping, and cleaning services to several older people. One of my clients said she felt embarassed at needing help but my honest answer was 2-fold - i) nothing to be embarassed about, we all call on the services of others in some form or another, and ii) she is doing me a favour by employing me!
So those who have mentioned maybe getting a cleaner, GET ONE!
Surely it is better to pay for 2 hours a week and have your friends come to visit than feel you cannot ask anyone round? You will save money on your entertaining budget if you have coffee
and cake or a simple lunch at home instead of in a cafe or pub
PS - the Magic of Tidying - see the Kon Marie thread - has changed my home soooo much for the better. I had de-cluttered, everything is neatly stored and easy to find, I am so much less stressed and do not feel oppressed by Stuff! Check it out and find those things that spark joyI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Hear hear!
I have a routine so that I can wing it. If everything is done more or less regularly, it doesn't matter so much if it isn't done every time.

I bought that book for my Kindle and yes, there are some great things in there (I particularly like the clothes folding stuff - shut-up). However, the spark joy thing had me flummoxed - because I'm surrounded by stuff that does that. Perhaps I need a joy scale :rotfl:
Will go and check out the thread now ....2022 | Back to the fold - need a Money Saving mojo reboot!
