Sending Euros

Hi Guys, So I am buying a new high-end Guitar from a independent luthier in Germany and I happen to have a wad of Euros in cash which I would like to use to pay for the guitar. Is there a way I can just send these Euros without changing them into £ then back into €?

Advice much appreciated!

Thanks, Mike

Not many options I'm afraid... Germany doesn't officially allow cash to be sent through its mail service, so while you might get away with posting it you wouldn't get any compensation if it went missing.

If there's anyone you know and trust with a Euro account at a UK bank you could pay them and ask them to transfer it to the recipient's account.

If you know who they bank with you could check if the bank has any presence in the UK - although I can't find any German banks with UK branch service based on a quick search.

You may well have to bite the bullet and change to £ and back, annoying as it may be. If you work in a big company try advertising the € for sale at the spot exchange rate - I always do this and have never failed to sell within a few hours, as people where I work are always travelling somewhere. Failing that, look on the Travel Money Maximiser on this site to find the best "Buy Back" rate. You shouldn't lose more than about 1.5% (plus special delivery charges if you can't get there in person) on the transaction compared with the spot rate. Then you can use a service like TransferWise to make the transfer.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Open a bank account denominated in euros, pay in the cash and then pay using that account. Probably only worth it if you are talking about a very expensive guitar.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
