Is there anything left to sell?
That usually takes a few quid off the top line.
Surely the Queen doesn't need all those palaces? Turning Bucks Palace into high end penthouse flats would have the Russians and Chinese flocking.
What about selling Judith Chalmers; Angela Rippon; and the other one nobody can remember? Antiques fetch a decent price.0 -
Unlikely as nearly all of them are dead.
Ah, in that case we're talking about the lazy sods who built up everything we have today including inventing the web so we can all moan about them publicly. Seriously, a short memory should not divert you from the facts that this predicament is not the creation of our elders but of successive Governments and 'I-want-everything-today' people who have borrowed beyond their means.Mornië utulië0 -
Freezing/cutting the state pension (but not the means tested pension credit) would solve a lot of problems very quickly.
It's a shame it's the Tories in government who aren't willing to do what needs to be done. Instead more young/poor/disabled people will be victimised/made homeless to help subsidise massive benefits for the lazy old generations who all retired at 60 and will live for another 40 years at our expense.
If the value transfer system (AKA the economic system) doesn't allow us to transfer funds between people's income/earnings and the medication/care/transport/shelter delivery branch of the economy in a way that lets us all access accommodation when we need training/education, look for work and start families, then why should we support the system without analysing it from a political point of view instead of just a merely economic one? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Given that WWII ended 72 years ago, there won't be that many left these days. The overwhelming majority of the "lazy old sods" concerned won't have seen active combat.0 -

Berners- Lee allegedly invented the web. The "successive Governments" concerned were elected by "our elders" amongst other who presumably must have been "'I-want-everything-today' people" otherwise we wouldn't be where you think we are today.0 -
Those that fought did so because they were conscripted and had no choice. They weren't fighting for freedom but for their own survival. It certainly wasn't for my benefit as I wasn't born.
Fine, so in your fight for survival, don't expect anyone to care about you.
Btw, the benefit to you is that you live in a free society.Given that WWII ended 72 years ago, there won't be that many left these days. The overwhelming majority of the "lazy old sods" concerned won't have seen active combat.
This point has already been made. Try to keep up.

Uum, yes. The post war reconstructive generation. We all know that. He was a lazy sod wasn't he?.

Not necessarily. You're old enough to vote aren't you? Successive Governments since 2000 have borrowed enormous sums. You must have voted for one of them given they have been red and blue?Mornië utulië0 -
