Summons incorrect

I have received a summons for non-payment of Council Tax.
However, I've just moved around a month ago and paid my Council Tax at this address. On the Summons it states that the "Address Giving Rise To The Charge" is my current new address - I didn't live at the address on the Summons between the dates given. This is a serious error - does it make the Summons invalid?

Hi,
I would suggest contacting the council and making an arrangement to pay, rather than looking for mistakes in due process.
Time and again there are posts on here from people behind with there CT, who have had visits from bailiffs, with all the hassle and extra charges that entails.

I'm hoping to set up a DRO, could I use the mistake to prolong things so that I can get the DRO in place?0

If you are going for a DRO they can be approved within 48 hours of submission by your intermediary.
So if your going to do it, crack on with it, then your question will no longer be relevant.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. You need to contact as shown above and deal with the situation.
The summons has no set layout in council tax legislation - it's purpose is only to tell you that a court hearing has been requested in respect of the amount shown on the notice and that it will take place at the time & date shown. Any other information would be at the local authority's discretion - you could try and argue the point with them but I can'see any reason why the court would fail to regard it as valid.

My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
