Hi everyone
I have recently been contacted by a cmc company about a ppi I was not aware we had on a previous mortgage account .
As you can imagine they were giving nothing away with there details apart from it was with the mortgage advice centre in Derby .
My questions is how do I find out the mortgage details on my previous property ie who mortgage was with .
The original broker has ceased trading and I believe I can claim back through the fscs but they need some more details .
Any help people would be much appreciated

The CMC cannot know what PPI you have or had. They are simply fishing for business.0

Your mortgage details are in the public domain. However, what insurance you bought alongside the mortgage is not. Claims companies have been trawling the land registry records and cold calling on that basis. It is purely speculative. My questions is how do I find out the mortgage details on my previous property ie who mortgage was with .
Your mortgage lender is not relevant. You wouldn't be complaining to them as it has nothing to do with them.To be fair to them on there letter they did name the mortgage advice center who we did use
I am sure they could name other things too taken from the land registry records. The original broker has ceased trading and I believe I can claim back through the fscs but they need some more details .
The FSCS will take on complaints about mortgage brokers if it was sold after Jan 2005 and the company is no longer trading. Although don't hold your breathe. The FSCS only uphold 5% of complaints on mortgage brokers. Unless it is single premium MPPI, you would need a very good reason.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It is surely premature to be talking about referring the matter to the FSCS as you do in your original post.
At present you don't appear to have the faintest idea whether you ever had PPI in the first place. The only suggestion that you did have it has come from a dodgy reclaim company who have no access to PPI insurace records and are just touting for business.0
