Compensation

We have recently had our new mortgage lender send out all of our details (DOB, bank account etc etc) to another persons by mistake!... Fortunately the person concerned as honest and sent all the information on to us and has alerted the lender. We are obviously furious - just wondering how much compensation it is reasonable to ask for as this was a major breach of data protection...?

You'll get about £250 and a bunch of flowers for this type of offence.I am a mortgage broker. Kingstreet don't wind them up you know full well that they will not receive any flowers here, The compo sounds about right and if you wish to hold for more and push it along to the governing bodies then don't expect the amount to increase from the initial offer.0

We are obviously furious
Why obviously? I would be disappointed in them but accept errors happen. Its hardly furious level of bad.as this was a major breach of data protection.
It was a minor breach as it is just you. Major would be a wide data release.
Ask for £250, May get as little as £25. I would put £250 at the upper end of what is likely. However, with banks you really can never tell. There is no fine coming their way from the data protection commissioner for one bit of post going to the wrong address. So, it is just a goodwill gesture on their part.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. What about the recipients? Imagine their shock! A few months ago I got someone's cash ISA account statement sent to me, was about £60k in it. No way to send it to the people since they had put my address on all the details, so obviously a fundamental screwup.
I had the entire board executed and their head office razed to the ground "pour encourager les autres".
Should just asked for £250 now I see.0 -

Thanks for your sarcasm - very witty and glad that on a supposedly constructive forum you have nothing better to do with your timeAnotherJoe wrote: »What about the recipients? Imagine their shock!
