Postgraduate Loan - Halifax mortgage

Hi there,

I've taken out one of the new postgraduate loans this year. Repayments don't start until April 2019.

Can anyone confirm if Halifax would take this into account when looking at a mortgage application? Obviously it doesn't show up on my credit score or last three months bank statements and I'm not making repayments for another three years...

Many thanks,
Sparko

They take into account 3% of an HTB Equity Loan where payments don't start for five years, so I suspect they will want to do similar to you.

  • Thank you - would that need to be declared as part of getting a DiP or just on the full application?

Entered in the affordability calculator to ensure you can borrow what you need.

Then included in the agreement in principle, which forms the basis of the full application once a property has been found.

The debt exists so will need to be declared on full application.
