P4Parking / TNC Parking Services

Hi!

I live in Scotland. Parked at a friend's, seems there are two areas to the car park. One run by some (lenient) company and one run by P4Parking. I got a ticket parking in the other one, not realising there was a difference.

We are in Scotland, we have to ignore these private tickets, right?

So now, after a couple of months I receive a Notice to Keeper or Hirer. I am the registered keeper. The fine is at £100. Says no parking permit was on display and the scary part for me was a section on the back after the details on how to pay titled Information about litigation. Saying how they can get a County Court Judgment or similar, issue a statutory demand for bankruptcy if over £750.00 or if I have a bank account seek a Third Party Debt Order and retrieve the money from my account.

Do I continue to ignore? Or appeal?

Worth noting I am leaving to work in SE Asia in November for 4 months and will be in Australia for a year after that. The car will be sold hopefully in a few weeks, but they did get my mum's address from the DVLA.

Thanks in advance.

Yes. Make sure all the family know that while you are away, they MUST NOT try to 'help'. Not pay (!) nor phone any letter-sending idiot debt collector. NO-ONE must say who the driver was, no contact. Never mind the daft letters.

Was the event in Scotland too?

Does the TNC letter say that the keeper will be liable under the POFA 2012?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Because this is Scotland then, as long as you don't tell them who was driving, there's nothing they can do. In England they could use POFA to hold the Keeper liable - but that doesn't apply in Scotland. So if they don't know who the driver is there's no-one for them to pursue.

  • Yeh it was at my friends in Edinburgh.

No mention of POFA in the letter. They say if I wasn't the driver then I need to pass on the notice and give the name and current address of the driver.

Their strap line is "credit solutions since 1973" TNC Parking Services... pfffft! Should I worry about this County Court Judgment note on the back? It says it will allow enforcement and affect my credit rating.

    Appreciate your quick responses!

Not for a nano-second, not least because you don't have COUNTY Courts in Scotland! TNC cannot affect your credit rating, honestly.

Ignore cheerfully any letters like this; make sure the entire family are aware.

    A new strapline for them
