  • For the first time in months I finally feel in control and i've been :

    - updating my excel spreadsheet daily as direct debits and transaction leave the bank
    - swapped my gas and electric to 2yr fixed tariff (didn't save anything,£21 cash back, but avoids huge hike in price with Scottish power now current deal ended)
-meal planned for next week from today until a week tomorrow
-planning on using as many freezer and cupboard stocks as possible
-encouraging children to make tea once a week (life skill and night off for me - h/m pizza tonight)
-had chat with kids about lights/tv etc being left on and reason why
-knocked heating down from 23' to 21' (hubby hates being cold)
-starting to look around at junk that i can list on ebay

Hubby is definitely onboard and the aim this month is to get to pay day and have a £10 minimum sat in our joint account. The o/d this month was £487, so it'll be huge effort but we need to keep on track. BY getting a grip and having tight month, it means December won't be as painful.

    Happy money saving saturday.

  • It is small steps and I our debt is now higher than it's ever been. However, I finally feel like taking steps in the right direction. OD's and Credit cards are horrendous and I know how easy it is to slip back into using them. Hubby is definitely on board, so are the kids - which is a massive help.

I used to shop every day £5 here, £20 there but after watching live well for less I've decided to do one big shop. We went on Saturday and spent £100.15 in Aldi, but the trolley was rammed.
Well we've made it to Thursday and the meal planning is going brilliantly. Yesterday I had to buy milk and a bag of black liquorice, so have had 3 No spend days and a spend of £2.89. It's miracle and I'm delighted. Just need to keep on track and there will be the £30 left in our account before pay day!

  • Looks like the £30 in credit on pay day is a pipe dream! Few bits and bobs popped up and my budget for the rest of the month has been smashed already! This week is a cupboard and freezer week and i've only bought milk, bread and fruit and veg to try and keep on track. Determined not to hit the overdraft massively, so my plan is to try and ebay a few bits to keep us afloat. Groan.....i hate fleabay, but needs must and it's the only way to hit my £30 in the account on pay day!
