I wish somebody would do a comparison between shopping in bulk from Costco, and shopping in supermarkets.
Just bought 12 x 75ml Sensodyne toothpaste, at coupon price, for £20.40, inc VAT.
Full RRP appears to be £3.50 x 12 = £42.
As for quoting coupon price, why would you buy toothpaste when it's not coupon price?
I think bananas and milk are cheaper outside Costco, if you shop around, because they are loss leaders.0 -
Oh please, 1%?
Really?
Inflation was higher (just for example) three years ago - 2013.
Over 2% inflation was then; did we see such stories from MSE at that time?
Fuel then was often over £1-40 per litre too.
A non-story playing to those with little else to do than worry about the effects of a referendum, the result of which has yet to be enacted.
MSE should know better.0 -
Hotel stays aren't a household cost. I've never had a hotel stay!
Hotel stays are luxuries, that many won't ever have.0 -

Quite!
There was a huge fuss made recently about the shrinking size and rising price of Terry's chocolate oranges. As usual 'Brexit' was blamed.
The fact is those 'oranges' were made months ago, so the increased price is just the usual Kraft/Mondelez rip-off their benighted customers have been suffering since the takeover.
I'd dispute that a 1% price rise could even be measured accurately and I certainly dispute that my home shipping bill hasn't been rising faster than that for the past few years, in any case - whatever the government's lying figures might have claimed.0 -
Morrisons raises the price of Marmite by 12.5%:

I had to read this thread title twice. Inflation HITS 1%!! How will I survive - my weekly £100 shop could rise by £1?? Will my family starve to death.
Normal price rises on products often come to a lot more than 1%.
Why is MSE producing more and more of these rubbish 'News Article' threads with their scaremongering headlines?0 -
Until recently (August) the Tesco's value flavoured yogurts were 30p for four today they are now 42p for the same thing bit more than 1% I think. I now buy a pot of plain value yogurt for around 45p for half a litre and put my own flavours in Last night I zapped a spoonful of value lemon curd for 15 seconds ,added a small handful of granola then topped it with yogurt, mixed it up together and voila a lemon crunchy yogurt for pennies. Tonight it will be some honey with a bit of chopped apple I think0
