house insurance

Evening all:j:j:j
I'm so happy my buildings and contents insurance are due for renewal on 16th October..so I decided to look around.I started with my own insurers(halifax) who quoted me £575.51 for B/Cs insurance(as even though I'd been claim free for 5 years up until december when I suffered some storm damage)....I thought this was incredibly high!!!!
To cut a long story short AA worked out the cheapest...£235..for B/Cs insurance...WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!
then I went to quidco checked Lloyds as they were offering £120 C/B but their quote was over £400..and noticed £35 for AA with quidco so did that....
I can't believe my insurance is £340 cheaper(and yes I did declare the claim)
FOR ANYONE NEW OUT THERE THAT DOESN'T THINK THAT YOU CAN SAVE MONEY ON INSURANCE BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER...THINK AGAIN AND GO FOR IT....£340 FOR HALF AN HOURS WORK IS FANTASTIC!!!!

  • Well done taxi! It pays to look around and keep eyes open!

Thats a massive saving! If i were u, i would check small print now itself if the cover is leaving any imp clauses which halifax offered! Hope you've done it by now!

Thanks for all your replies..it certainly doesn't pay to be loyal to any company!!!...I have to wait for the paperwork but the only difference I can see is that the Halifax is unlimited buildings cover but seeing as I live in a 2 up 2 down terrace I don't need that...with the AA I have everything I had before accidental damage, possessions away from home and £40000 contents cover and £100000 buildings cover but will read all the small print...
This site is absolutely brilliant ...I can't believe how much money I've saved since joining here....
It's amazing how I've changed my mind about companies looking after my interests and turned it into me looking after me!!!!....the loyal customers pay to subsidise the new customers in my opinion...so no more loyalty for me....

Well done taxi, but PLEASE check you have adequate cover! I wish I had left my unlimited buildings cover as it was and not opted for the cheaper option,I wouldn't be in the mess I am if I had left things alone
I do hope everything is ok,it's a great feeling when you have saved so much money, but you get a little angry too that they charge so much in the first place,if one can do a good deal, then surely others can  unfortunately for us we have to stay loyal to our insurers as nobody else will insure us for the next few years
