Also bear in mind that some devices regulate power usage, and so the watts may not always be constant.

For most appliances you need to use the cumulative power setting.

For instance your freezer will only draw power when the compressor is running.

So plugging in your freezer it will show that it is using, say 200 watts or nothing.
You need to leave it plugged it 24 hours or longer and then it will show that it uses, say, 1kWh in 24 hours - an average of 42 watts.

Why resurrect a 2 year old thread?

Because Aldi have just started to sell them again this week?

I just bought one from Aldi. It seems pretty accurate on everything except my monitor. It says my pc uses around 50W (its old and cut down just a mobo ram and hdd). But my pc and my monitor uses 40W together.... ooops! Something to do with the power factor which I don't understand because the flat panel drops the power factor to 0.4 from 0.8. Anyone understand this stuff ?

Are you sure you have it set to Watts and not Volt/amps? it toggles between those 2 settings by pressing the button.

Can you check the consumption of the monitor alone?

What amp readings do you get?
