New Phone For Comping?!

---Delete If Not Allowed---

I am starting to get into comping and I was wondering if it's worth buying a cheap old phone on eBay and put in a free sim into it so that if I do receive a phone call, I can answer it and not get spam on my everyday phone. Is it worth it?

It would probably be best to ask in the compers chat thread - I understand many people do have separate phones for comping though.

I personally don't enter telephone or text competitions so not sure what most people do

I don't have a separate one, don't get any more ppi/car accident calls than my 12 year old does. She doesn't give anyone her number. I don't think it's worth it unless your other phone is a work one.

I wouldn't bother with e-bay when there is a choice of them from £14.99 including a £10 top up from Argos and probably others (most require a chargeable usage at least every 6 months to keep the number and credit "live")

I've been using my normal phone and number since I started comping about a year ago and haven't received any spam calls more than I did before I started comping.

I don't think it makes sense to have a second phone. You're going to answer the call anyway as it may be a winning call so why go through the hassle of buying a new phone? :)

Get a simcard from 3 on there 3-2-1 tariff
You don't need any credit on it (unless you wish to make calls) - and it is active as soon as you put it in your phone.
