Hi am just wondering about the quality of meat from lidls, is it frozen, does it cook ok? Is it any cheaper than tescos. Another thread has panicked me slightly about cost of food going up so trying to think of ways to cut back, which will prob include cheap cuts of meat;)

I really rate Lidl's frozen mince - I always fry the fat out first whatever mince I'm using, and hardly any seems to come out of Lidl's frozen. I find their fresh mince revolting though. Not only is it much fattier, but eating it is similar to how I imagine chewing thickly chopped elastic bands to be. I also think it smells a bit strange too. We've had it a couple of times, and even my husband wasn't keen. He'll usually eat anything.Eek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0

Hmm I don't like Lidl's mince myself. Past 2 times I found chunks of kidney and bone in it so that has turned me off but their chicken is yummy

I don't like Lidl's meat at all; we eat less meat now and do more veggie meals, but either use the local butcher, Morrisons or Costco when we do have meat.0

I've never had any problems with Lidls fresh steak mince. I don't get much fat off it at all, and it's just as good as Tesco's steak mince. I never buy ordinary beef mince, though, it never seems to go as far, and always has a lot more fat.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0
