Emma's Diary comp SPAM call

Options
I never enter Emma's Diary comps but I entered one and only one recently and today it produced a call to my mobile from Scottish Power who informed me that they work alongside Emma's Diary and call people to help save them money on their bills. This is the link to the comp http://www.emmasdiary.co.uk/baby-competitions/win-the-complete-skinfix-eczema-range
When you read the terms and conditions it states that your personal info will be shared with the prize provider, which in this case is Boots, so what's happening here?

  • I had the same call a few weeks ago. Again they said it was in partnership with Emma's Diary but it wasn't from this particular comp. I have been entering these for quite some time and that was the first and only time it has happened at the moment. It looks like maybe they have a new affiliate with this company and for whatever reason have passed on details but since I said I wasn't interested they haven't bothered me again so hopefully just a one off

Like xLuckyxAshxWinsx I have been entering Emma's Diary competitions for some time and have never had any spam (including from the competition you mentioned despite entering it). I've just looked at my profile information on the site and neither telephone number nor mobile number are compulsory fields. Whilst looking, I've noticed that I've never given either of my numbers to the site which is maybe why I've never had any spam from them. Perhaps you could try deleting your numbers from your profile to try and stop this happening again?

By joining Emma’s Diary you agree to receive telephone calls from ScottishPower to see if they can save you money on your gas and electricity bills. ScottishPower will keep your details for a maximum of 18 months for this purpose. .

If you do not wish to receive a call please go to your profile page and unsubscribe. See more at: http://www.emmasdiary.co.uk/contact-legal/terms-and-conditions.

I can't seem to find my account details though to opt out !

If you go to your profile where it says your account details it says unsubscribe. Put in your password click on unsubscribe and then it leads to a whole lot of boxes that you can unsubscribe from both third parties and Emmas diary. I never knew it existed until seeing this so thanks :-)
