Hi fivebyfive,
Just stopping by to say you are doing great. I have found thinking about purchases makes such a difference in have walked away from 2 jumpers this week, working in retail does not help when the new lines arrive!!
Keep up the good work!
Thank you Lucy-lou
Well done on walking away from the Jumpers, it must be really difficult working in retail with the temptation :eek:Debt =£5,829.57 Aug 17 /£5,598.05 Mar 17/ £6,310.36 Feb 17/ £6,468.06 Jan 17/£6,593.06 Dec 16/ £6,545.36 Nov 16/ £6,886.82 Oct 16

Purplemumof2 & PositiveStep Thank you, I'm so pleased with the purchases.
I've had another day of taking lunch in to work today..I was so tempted to have the usual Friday Fish and Chips with my colleagues but I didn't give in to the temptation
I bought DS1 main xmas present today which has been budgeted for. Haven't spent anymore so all is good. I earned 5 pounds cashback from Ch3ckout Sm&rt yesterday with my food shop. I went to 4 different supermarkets etc to keep they food bill down :rotfl: Petrol probably cost more than i saved.
I'm spending the evening alternatively watching Vampire Diaries , reading one of the diaries on here as well and occasionally swag bucking in the background. My Friday nights are so exciting

Monday blues and starting the day with the knowledge that I've lost £13 due to idiocy. I can't go into too much detail on here but I think i will have to use this loss of money as a lesson to be extra vigilant. It could have been a hell of lot worse.
In other news, I had a lovely weekend without spending too much. Me and DD went for breakfast at our fav cafe yesterday morning. She used her spend for the expensive drink she wanted and I used my entertainment budget for the rest.Debt =£5,829.57 Aug 17 /£5,598.05 Mar 17/ £6,310.36 Feb 17/ £6,468.06 Jan 17/£6,593.06 Dec 16/ £6,545.36 Nov 16/ £6,886.82 Oct 16

Yesterday was eventful. I thought I would stop off at a cafe for food before a meeting I had and was very disappointed in the food. It was overcooked and salad was wilted and turning brown :-(
I put in my feedback and they have offered me a meal and drink FOC
My cat has had to go to the Vet this morning for a wound on his body (probably caused by fighting with the neighbors cat) he has been given an injection and is to wear a cone around his head for a couple of weeks. Its another £55 i've had to put on the Credit Card :-(Debt =£5,829.57 Aug 17 /£5,598.05 Mar 17/ £6,310.36 Feb 17/ £6,468.06 Jan 17/£6,593.06 Dec 16/ £6,545.36 Nov 16/ £6,886.82 Oct 16

Hi fivebyfive,
Just wanted to stop by and say hello and wish you lots of luck on your debt busting journey!
Sorry to hear about your cat, they are pains sometimes aren't they! Hope he/she is ok.
I can totally relate to the frustration of having to use the credit card when emergencies like this occur, and it's so demotivating when you're in the zone and working like a machine to pay things off.
One thing that helped me a lot was setting up an emergency fund before I started overpaying on any of my debt, it then creates a buffer for you when things happen without having to go back to credit cards. Could be a £100 or £500, just something to take the pressure off. It gave me a feeling of security I hadn't had in years. Just got to stash it somewhere u won't dip into easily, but you can get to it easily when u need it! I read one lady put the cash in a photo frame and put it in the loft behind many boxes and heavy items :rotfl:

Many thanks for your replyI have budgeted some money into an emergency fund, but it only really covers Household items, car repairs and a holiday. I have a small amount in the pet category but as the budget has only been stuck to properly for a month i haven't gained enough in there to cover it.
The cat is fine, he has to wear a cone for a couple of weeks and stay indoors but otherwise all ok. The wound looks to be healing nicely.
Currently having a small disagreement with OH as OH wants to keep a surplus of food in i.e meat from farm shop whereas i am trying not to use up all the food budget and move the remainder into the credit card overpay. We can go another 2 weeks without meat as i can cook vegetarian meals a few times and we do have a few a fair bit still in so unsure what to do.Debt =£5,829.57 Aug 17 /£5,598.05 Mar 17/ £6,310.36 Feb 17/ £6,468.06 Jan 17/£6,593.06 Dec 16/ £6,545.36 Nov 16/ £6,886.82 Oct 16

A bit more accomplished this weekend. :j
I went to T3sco yesterday and spent £8.50 on stuff that i really didn't need but enjoyed it immensely...pepperami, brie, crackers, olives and feta, It was delicious. I am currently watching Hocus Pocus and going to be carving pumpkins with the kids this afternoonDebt =£5,829.57 Aug 17 /£5,598.05 Mar 17/ £6,310.36 Feb 17/ £6,468.06 Jan 17/£6,593.06 Dec 16/ £6,545.36 Nov 16/ £6,886.82 Oct 16

OK - so as its last day of the month I have totaled up my NSD and Lunch to Work days
October
18/31 - NSD
20/21 - LTW :j
Really pleased with myself for only going out for lunch once this month -this used to be a daily occurrence!
I think I really need to look at the guidelines i want to set for NSD's as I think i may have miscalculated some of these. For example if i give the kids spend which is already budgeted for the month, is that classed as spending on that day or the day i budgeted it? Does that make sense?Debt =£5,829.57 Aug 17 /£5,598.05 Mar 17/ £6,310.36 Feb 17/ £6,468.06 Jan 17/£6,593.06 Dec 16/ £6,545.36 Nov 16/ £6,886.82 Oct 16
